Tips to make a dining room child friendly

Do you remember your grandmother’s dining room? The one that had delicate china and glass collection in the cupboard, the delicate white carpet and the pink roses wallpapers hanging from wall to wall. The one room that was under no circumstances child friendly? Now take a look at your dining room. Is it so delicate that you are afraid that your child may ruin it? If that is the case, then you must redecorate immediately. In case you are thinking that your child is a fussy eater, you need to change your views and create an environment that invites the child, rather than the child thinking it is in some kind of sterile environment.
Vibrant colours
You do not have to turn your entire dining room into a children playhouse, however you will be making a great adjustment if you decide to paint the walls in some bold and vibrant colour. Stay away from the dull colours such as pink or blue and instead opt for some other colours from the likes of orange or purple. If your child is older, then buy him or her a special chair. You can paint the chair in all the colours of the rainbow, or you can purchase it in the same colour as the colours of the dining room. The psychologists state that children always react to bright colours and that they associate the colours with some feelings they have.
Tableware
Your child needs to have tableware that is especially his. And this tableware needs to be adorned with his or her favourite characters. In case your child is still too young, you can never go wrong by choosing a Disney tableware. Donald Duck is adored by children of all ages, and you can buy two mugs, a placemat, a few Donald Duck glasses and paper napkins also. You can certainly buy forks and spoons that have some interesting characters imprinted on their handles.
Wall decorations
You can always transform a regular looking dining room into a kid-friendly room by placing some wall decorations on the wall opposite of the chairs of the children. You can use the same old trick of replacing some of the existent wall decorations with some Disney characters, and you can remove these once the dinner is ready.
Tablecloth
Regardless of the material of your dining room table, the little sticky fingers will always leave prints on them. While glass dining tables can look utterly stylish, it is the best if you wait to buy one until your children have grown older. Wood dining tables look modern and inviting, and can be transformed into wonderful meal party time with the proper tablecloth. Make sure to choose one that is really colourful and maybe with animal prints on it.
Personalized dining pieces
You can order personalized dining pieces that will create an inviting meal atmosphere for your little ones. Think about ordering towels that have special embroideries on them, like their names and also some glasses with some special message like “with love from mommy” etc. These little details can renovate your traditional dining room into one that will be welcomed by your children.
