Top Tips for Making Sure Your Child Survives the Winter Unscathed

As soon as the winter comes knocking on our doors, we all know that it brings along many viruses and bacteria that love staying indoors as much as we do. Parents especially need to know how to prepare their children for the winter if they want to avoid frequent trips to the pediatrician’s offices. If you want to learn the top tips for the ultimate healthy winter survival of your children, please just keep on reading
The proper winter outfit
First time parents usually make the mistake of overdressing the child with many layers of clothing. Along with the fact that the overdressing may lead to severe bodily temperature changes, it also may lead to circulation problems. The clothes that you pick for your children should be lightweight, but they also need to be wind proof and waterproof and must fit comfortably and snug.
Sunscreen creams
Contrary to the popular belief, sunscreen creams are not reserved for summer time only. The sun rays that are reflected from the snow are just as harmful as the sun rays from the water reflection, and they can cause some serious troubles on the delicate child's skin.
High quality boots
If you are wondering what is the number one item that will warrant your children’s health during the winter, wonder no more. The boots that are of high quality will keep the child’s feet dry and warm and can withstand hours and hours of fun in the snow or the rain. A few decades ago, the children's winter boots were made with comfort in mind, however today these boots are made with both comfort and aesthetic in mind, which means that your child can be stylish and warm at the same time. When you buy the boots, always make sure that you leave just a bit of extra room because you will want your children to wear them with thick, thermal socks.
Nutritious meals
Although in wintertime there are very few fruits and vegetables that are in season, this is the time when you want to increase the vitamins and minerals intake in your children, as the healthy nutrients have the aptitude to fight off the germs that are the culprits behind the colds. Always make sure that your child eats at least one portion of fruit and vegetables during the day, and cut down the sugar intake, because the sugar tampers with the natural ability of the body to enhance the immunity response during the winter.
Encourage outdoor activities
Just as I said earlier, viruses and bacteria thrive in warm places, and opposed to your wishes to keep your child indoors all the time, you should encourage its outdoor activities instead.
Extra pair of gloves
Children are naturally curious, so you will be having a hard time convincing them not to touch everything they see. This means that their hands will get wet very often, so you always have to remember to carry an extra pair of emergency gloves. It would be optimal if you invest in a high quality waterproof gloves also.
